because of the sacrifices and strength of the U.S. armed forces, and the vital importance of the surge, supported and encouraged by John McCain (and not many others), we are WINNING the war against Muslim Extremist Terrorists, have not been attacked on US soil since 9/11/01, and have given the Iraqi people hope in a new democracy.
thankfully those who opposed the surge, like Harry Reid and Barack Obama, who did not get it right, were not successful in pushing their defeatist views which would have been devastating to America.
