Wouldn't it be terrific to hear a nominee give the acceptance speech for the party's nomination... Town Hall style!
I sincerely believe that the Town Hall, is the best way for our leaders to speak to their supporters and to reach out directly to Americans. McCain has always been a HUGE advocate of the Town Hall style, and he has gained the trust of millions of Americans by talking directly WITH them, in a straightforward and open way.

Bill Kristol was telling a story that a McCain staffer had shared with him. The McCain staffer had talked to Sarah Palin and had warned her of the intense scrutiny that she would be under. The McCain staffer told her to expect them to really come after her, no-holds-barred. She thanked the McCain staffer for the advice and then asked this question:

**Imagine if your business were told how it "must" invest its money...?! Also will she then also force technology (APPLE, MICROSOFT) and Pharmaceutical companies to invest in her worthy projects?? After all, both have had even LARGER profits this past year then oil.
--She claimed Americans "give" windfall profits to oil companies.
**No, we don't "give" them anything; we pay them for a product...actually A LOT of products. CLICK HERE
--Corporations are "shipping" jobs out of the country.
**So the Democrats answer then is to TAX them more (?), totally ensuring that the entire corporation is shipped out...? (remember it is companies and corporations which provide us with our jobs and our paychecks....hello employment)

When you cut the corporate tax rate, then yes, oil companies get tax cuts, as does every other company - alternative energy companies, car companies, brewers, construction companies, restaurant chains, etc.

DEMS PUMPING HYPOCRISY
When it comes to energy issues, Democrats' hypocrisy grows ever thicker.
This week, Politico.com reported that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, an ardent foe of offshore drilling, is privately "encouraging vulnerable Democrats to express their independence if it helps them politically."
**Translation: Pelosi knows Americans are outraged by her opposition to drilling and doesn't want Dems to let principles get in the way of good politics.
Oh, and remember that proposed gas-tax holiday that Dems, including Barack Obama, so vehemently oppose? Turns out the Blue Party really doesn't mind a holiday from taxes - for themselves.
The host committee for their national convention in Denver has been filling up its cars at the city's municipal pumps, thus skirting state and federal taxes of 40.4 cents a gallon. Yet those pumps are meant only for government, not party, vehicles.

Two-hundred thirty-five journalists donated to Democrats, just 20 gave to Republicans — a margin greater than 10-to-1. An even greater disparity, 20-to-1, exists between the number of journalists who donated to Barack Obama and John McCain.
Searches for other newsroom categories (reporters, correspondents, news editors, anchors, newspaper editors and publishers) produces 311 donors to Democrats to 30 donors to Republicans, a ratio of just over 10-to-1. In terms of money, $279,266 went to Dems, $20,709 to Republicans, a 14-to-1 ratio.
***What is truly remarkable about the list is that, discounting contributions to Paul and Rudy Giuliani, who was a favorite son for many folks in the media, the totals look like this: $315,533 to Democrats, $3,150 to Republicans (four individuals who donated to McCain).
!!Let me repeat: $315,533 to Democrats, $3,150 to Republicans — a ratio of 100-to-1.!!

There was a rather extraordinary confrontation on the Senate floor Thursday involving offshore oil drilling that got very little press coverage.
Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kent.) tried to get Democrats to vote on a measure that would open up such drilling if the price of gasoline reached a certain level.
Although the "bidding" eventually reached $10 a gallon, Colorado's Ken Salazar continually objected.
***At $7.50 per gallon, this country would be severly handicapped, at $10.00 per gallon, America would be commiting suicide.***

New York Times Rewrites History: 'McCain Joins Obama On Offshore Drilling'
In perhaps the most biased, incorrect, misleading and blatantly disgusting piece of journalism this campaign season, the Global Edition of the New York Times - The International Herald Tribune has published an article entitled: McCain Joins Obama On Offshore Drilling.
In the piece the Times suggests that McCain's statement that he would support a compromised plan allowing offshore drilling is an attempt to follow in the footsteps of similar statements made by Obama on Friday. Apparently the New York Times reporters have failed to listen to any statements made by the McCain campaign over the past 6 weeks.
This article goes well beyond a lack of journalistic integrity, it is in effect an attempt at blatant Obama campaign Propaganda that somehow suggests that the candidate who three days ago told American's to inflate their tires, has shown leadership or an understanding of the energy issue. Everyone knows that the paper whose revenue has dropped 80% is in the tank for Obama, however, apparently they are now the official Propaganda Ministry for the Obama Campaign.
